SCHEMA: 7-10 PRINTMAKING/PRINT BASED PRACTICE

7/8

November 09, 2017

In year 7&8 Students discover and develop not only their technical skills but their abilities as Artist and maker/thinker. Starting with an exploration of Line and representation of Self before moving into positive and negative space, Students are also asked to interpret and respond to not only practicing Artists but to develop their own meaning from these prompts for making.

9/10

November 10, 2017

By the end of Years 9&10 Students are now expected to not only be able to plan and create their own Artworks, but to also have developed and understanding of how Art is used to convey meaning. Looking at practicing Print based Artists and Designers, Students will be immersed in contemporary discourse and search for the blurry edges of the discipline, moving into Photography, Digital Printing, Mass Media in order to better understand not only the intricacies of Material Practice, but what it means to be a Practicing Artist in contemporary society.

VCE

November 10, 2017

In VCE Art/Studio Art, Students are expected to have developed an understanding of Art and Arts practice that is beginning to resemble that of a practicing Artist. This deep level of thought and critical engagement requires an understanding of Art and the world that transcends rigid discipline frameworks to understand the state of contemporary Art and the relationship it holds with Printmaking and Print Based Practice, and the difference between the two. This is highly dependent on the knowledge and outlook of the Teacher, but hopefully with the resources provided here enough scaffolding exists to begin to expand upon the initial concepts and develop it into something greater.
