Cubist photocollage

An exploration of the ideas that underpin the ideas of early Cubism and Dada, examining works like Duchamp's Nude Descending a Staircase, Picasso's Weeping Woman and Hoch's self portraits. After a class discussion on what these works entail aesthetically and conceptually we embark on creating our own using photo collage. Students use their device or a camera procured by the teacher to take images of themselves and each other to be printed out and collaged.
Packaging design with ceramics

Beginning with designing a packaging net, students then learn to translate these designs into a physical shape using a clay slab construction. Challenges are present in translating a paper based design to thick slabs, construction based on scoring and joining rather than folding and deciding the relationship between faces in construction.
